There are heaps of great free brush sets on the web. I've gathered up my favorites. This is not an exhaustive list but everyone of them is on my computer and I've tested them. More than that, I've listed the rights for each as at the time I downloaded them. So, if you're designing for commercial work, you'll know if you can use the set or if you need permissions - check the actual brush sets for exact requirements.

These are my own brushes. There are 22 brushes made from scanned watch parts. They include gears and funky metal shapes.

Hand Drawn Frame Brushes

Another brush set of my own design. These brushes are all hand drawn by me and my trusty designer and are based on the hand drawn frame series. The brushes are a little bit doodle and a little bit scribble, and there are even some Zentangle
® style bushes in the group.

These are a small but good collection of high resolution drip brushes you can use to add paint splatters to faux graffiti and other painterly effects.

This is a wonderful set, I went looking for it after photographing Hindu temples in Little India, Singapore. I fell in love with Indian art there and can't wait to visit India. This is a pretty consistently good quality set.
